DEEP Station Florida

Subsea training and habitat operations facility

DEEP Station Florida is DEEP's integrated operations, training, and mission-control facility in the Florida Keys. Our shoreside base designed to support the full spectrum of subsea activities, from aquanaut training and habitat operations, to emergency response and dive safety protocols.

Capabilities

Mission control and habitat operations

A real-time habitat watch desk coordinates missions and maintains oversight of habitat operations.

Technical training facilities

Located within a gated, secure perimeter, the Station provides privacy and capability for underwater training and classroom learning. The space serves as a facility for training DEEP aquanauts and running training courses, such as our Dive Medical Technician course.

Emergency and medical response

We maintain the necessary facilities, established procedures, and appropriately qualified personnel to safely manage hyperbaric medical events.

Specialized infrastructure

DEEP Station Florida features purpose-built infrastructure designed to support operations, training, and emergency response. This includes approximately 1,300 linear feet of dockage, dedicated training classrooms, office workstations, dive bottle compressors, and a 72-inch decompression chamber.

Facilities and infrastructure

Main building
Reception, Operations Center, habitat watchdesk, dedicated client workspaces and classrooms.
Workshops
Dedicated electrical and mechanical workshop spaces and compressor station.
Decompression facility
72” Decompression Chamber for decompression procedures and emergency response.
Poolhouse and Tiki
Rest and relaxation facilities for post operations wind-down after operations.

Vessels and marine support

DEEP Station Florida is equipped with three vessels to support marine operations.

DEEP Breath (44ft multihull) is a dive support and emergency vessel with a hyperbaric chamber on board.

DEEP Dive (46ft Newton) is a dive support vessel, having previously operated as a commercial DSV.

DEEP Pockets (Grady-White 330) is a water taxi for passenger and VIP transportation.

Vanguard

DEEP Station Florida plays a central role in supporting Vanguard, DEEP’s pilot subsea human habitat deployed nearby in the Florida Keys. The Station serves as the primary shore-based operations hub for all Vanguard missions, housing mission control, personnel, and emergency infrastructure that make extended underwater habitat operations possible.

Aquanauts preparing for Vanguard deployments complete their aquanaut training at the Station before descending. During live missions, the habitat watchdesk at DEEP Station Florida maintains continuous monitoring and is staffed to respond to any requirement.

Diving trainings available

We offer specialized commercial diving and subsea training from DEEP Station Florida, our operational facility in Marathon, Florida Keys.

Every course combines technical instruction with hands-on, in-water experience in a real-world subsea environment.
