DEEP has embarked on a multi-generational mission to make humans aquatic, with Sentinel as the first major milestone along this path.
Here are all the components DEEP is developing to help make Sentinel a reality:
When it comes to DEEP, a love for the ocean goes without saying. But it goes much further, too; to all of humankind and all of life itself. Because when we start there, the possibilities are endless – and we can find in the farthest reaches of the ocean, the answers to humankind’s most troubling challenges. Sharing this passion is fundamental to how successful DEEP will be. As this journey unfolds and evolves we pledge to:
- Publish insightful data about the ocean.
- Lead the way in advocacy for its exploration.
- Support others who share our passion and drive, and think about the world like we do.
- Establish The Aquan Network, to connect like-minded people, keep them up to date on the DEEP mission, and organise inspirational events with the great and good from this industry, and beyond.
To live, work and thrive subsea, and to do so for the extended periods that DEEP will enable, requires a level of physical and mental fitness unlike anything else. Such are the pressures on mind and body that the DEEP Institute exists to prepare people for whatever comes – in an environment that’s unlike anything else.
DEEP Institute provides you with:
- Physical preparation that makes sure people are fit to swim, confident getting themselves out of trouble, and comfortable helping others.
- Mental preparation that equips people with all the tools and coping mechanisms they need for potentially stressful situations and spending prolonged periods subsea.

In its proprietary programme, DEEP Research & Innovation explores the best-performing materials and optimal equipment that will enable people to spend more time subsea than ever before. Specifically, without any compromise whatsoever on comfort, performance, or warmth.
DEEP’s Research Team is actively engaged in a program to determine the highest-performing materials for Suits available, and in development, today.
Now that people have the right strength of mind and body, along with the equipment that will get the best out of both, they need to safely and efficiently travel subsea. DEEP Institute teaches them to pilot, maintain and support a sub deployment. And because the world of subs needs democratising, DEEP is designing and building the future of subs. By reducing cost and complexity, subs are open to a much wider audience than ever before.

The final layer. The next generation. The focus of everything that comes before it, lives inside it, and swims around it. These flexible, modular subsea habitats radically transform our relationship with the underwater environment. They enable humankind to exist subsea for longer than ever before, to live, work and thrive in the ocean in a manner that has until now been impossible.
